Gabriel Moreno, a dedicated professional at IQVIA, has had a fascinating journey into the world of Clinical Data Management (CDM). His path reflects a blend of curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to making the most of unexpected opportunities.
As a child, Gabriel dreamed of becoming a scientist, drawn by a natural curiosity for understanding the world and uncovering new insights. This passion for discovery found a home in the data-driven, analytical world of CDM. However, Gabriel’s journey into this field was not pre-planned. He describes finding his way to CDM “completely by chance,” a serendipitous turn of events that led him to explore and ultimately thrive in this dynamic sector.
Reflecting on his career so far, Gabriel credits his initial attraction to CDM to being “given an opportunity to work in DM and stayed.” It was a chance to dive into a field where technology, science, and data converge to ensure the success of clinical trials. Over the past few years, Gabriel has developed a deep appreciation for the role CDM plays in advancing healthcare innovation.
For those just starting their careers in Clinical Data Management, Gabriel offers some sage advice: “Understand what you are doing and why you are doing it; do not just memorize steps.” His perspective underscores the importance of connecting everyday tasks to the broader goals of clinical research—ensuring accuracy, safeguarding data integrity, and ultimately improving patient outcomes.
Gabriel’s journey serves as an inspiration to anyone considering a career in CDM, showing that even an unplanned start can lead to meaningful and impactful contributions in the field.
