David Chung
TruLab has addressed the challenges of manual data entry and discrepancies in clinical trial data management by developing a mobile application for specimen collection and management, that utilises a “tap and scan” technology. TruLab introduced a groundbreaking solution that revolutionises the clinical trial process and significantly enhances data management efficiency.

TruLab’s initiatives have had a profound impact on clinical trial data quality, and they have significantly contributed to cleaner, real-time data, reduced reconciliation efforts, and accelerated timelines for critical trial milestones.

Team Excellence in the Management of Clinical Data Award

WINNER

AstraZeneca EPIC Team
Timely review, cleaning, and reconciliation of imaging data are crucial for accuracy in Oncology trials, enabling reliable event predictions and efficient planning of interim analyses. However, complexities in data flow hinder effective tracking of missing scans. The EPIC team proposes a solution through cross-functional collaboration, creating a dashboard to streamline the process by ingesting data from various sources, thus enhancing tracking of data quality and event milestones.

RUNNER UP

Core Team
The CORE team is nominated for their exceptional team excellence in delivering client projects, notably the NATASHA study, contributing significantly to clinical research management nationally and internationally. Despite being a small team, they collaboratively handle database needs for various studies, exemplified by their rigorous approach, timely delivery, and commitment to mentoring early-career professionals, as evidenced by testimonials like that from the PB Sam study. Furthermore, they aspire to industry standards such as CDISC, enhancing the quality and coherence of their trials despite their academic unit’s size.

RUNNER UP

Wemedoo
Wemedoo’s agile, customer-centric approach revolutionizes clinical trial execution, encompassing EDC setup to data analysis across global trials, setting industry benchmarks for speed and affordability while prioritizing customer needs through integrated teams and transparent commitment to outcomes.

Innovation in the Management of Clinical Data Award

WINNER

Cluepoints Research & Development Team
A CluePoints team of statistical and RBQM experts developed advanced methods for detecting anomalies in ePRO audit trail data, aiming to share these insights with the wider biopharmaceutical community through their Central Monitoring Platform. By utilizing audit trail data alongside centralized monitoring, RBQM facilitates early risk detection in clinical trials, safeguarding participant safety and trial integrity, and aligns with updated regulatory guidance emphasizing the importance of audit trail review. The team’s innovative statistical test analyzes audit trail timestamps to identify patterns indicating potential data fabrication or protocol non-compliance, offering sponsors and investigators a proactive approach to managing data quality risks.

RUNNER UP

Medidata Clinical Data Studio Team
In 2023, clinical data management teams encountered challenges in transitioning to overseeing all data and overall data quality, as evidenced by industry surveys citing slow AI adoption, low RBQM uptake, and poor system integration. Medidata’s Clinical Data Studio addressed these issues by offering a user-friendly interface to enhance data management efficiency, reduce cycle times, improve data quality, and mitigate risks. The platform integrates various functionalities for data review and risk management, leveraging AI and ML to streamline processes while enabling users to configure settings without extensive programming, leading to notable time and cost savings for studies.

RUNNER UP

Saama
Saama’s AI-driven SaaS platform addresses the challenges faced by life science companies in conducting clinical research by automating data management and review processes, enhancing collaboration, and accelerating the development of novel therapies. Its latest features include Data Quality Co-Pilot for automated data quality checks, Chat for Patient Insights enabling natural language queries, and Interactive Review Listings facilitating collaborative review and task management, aiming to revolutionize drug development and streamline the path to market for new treatments.
