The 1st Annual ACDM Decentralised Clinical Trials Symposium will explore the opportunities and challenges of DCTs with a specific focus on the role of the clinical data manager and clinical data scientist. This one day in-person event will focus on four main areas: Technology, Regulatory, Patient, and Site. We will explore how the latest in wearable and sensor technology can support DCTs, along with an overview of the future in ePRO technology. We will be taken through some case studies from the industry, as well have the opportunity to hear from representatives sharing the patient and site voice on what DCT study designs has brought to them. We will also have the opportunity to hear the latest regulatory updates on what the new DCT guidance mean to clinical trials, and what are they looking for in studies with DCT elements.
The concept of meeting patients where they are when conducting clinical trials significantly predated the COVID-19 pandemic and aimed to improve patient convenience and experience. Typically, 70 percent of potential participants live more than two hours from trial sites, so decentralisation broadens trial access to reach a larger number and potentially a more diverse pool of patients. Decentralisation can also reduce the workload for trial investigators, since traditional site activities (such as drug administration, assessments, and data verification) can be performed remotely by others or by trial participants themselves. Decentralised Clinical Trials (DCT) can be an accelerator to increase patient diversity, recruitment, and engagement. While there are many opportunities for the use of DCTs there are also considerable challenges to address and the 1st Annual ACDM Decentralised Clinical Trials Symposium will let you hear from the many different stakeholders in DCTs to broaden your knowledge of the area.
