Technology DMEG

As clinical trials evolve through decentralised models, digital health technologies, real-world data, and secondary data use, the need for advanced data engineering capabilities has never been greater. The Technology Data Management Expert Group (DMEG) exists to lead this transformation.

This group brings together experts across clinical data management, technology, and engineering to:

  • Define and share best practices in clinical data engineering
  • Identify gaps in current technologies and processes
  • Foster innovation through practical, scalable, and compliant solutions
  • Promote continuous learning and adoption of emerging technologies

Our Mission: To accelerate the evolution of clinical data management by integrating cutting-edge technology and engineering practices that meet the growing demand for high-volume, real-time, interoperable data across the clinical trial ecosystem.

Why It Matters: Clinical data engineering is critical to enable the seamless collection, ingestion, integration, and delivery of high-quality data. Boehringer Ingelheim

Tamer Chowdhury brings over 25 years of clinical data engineering expertise to the table, currently serving as Data Governance Manager and AI Product Owner at Boehringer Ingelheim. I’ve spent my career transforming how we handle clinical trial data flow – from building scalable data hubs that process hundreds of studies daily to developing platforms that make complex datasets accessible at users’ fingertips.

What drives me? Creating intuitive data experiences that put patients first and help research teams move faster. At the end of the day, it’s about making sure the right data gets to the right people at the right time – because better data means better outcomes for patients.
