The changing landscape of Source Data Verification?

Learning Objectives:

Source Data Verification has been a traditional technique implemented to ensure data quality and integrity since we moved into the electronic world of data collection 20 years ago. More recently however, evaluations into its effectiveness as a robust quality control technique have been called into question, with evidence suggesting that a very small amount of data (~1%) is amended on the back of SDV, which in itself can consume 50% of onsite monitoring budget. This poor return on investment has prompted a more targeted implementation of SDV across the industry. COVID-19 has stamped its own influence on SDV, making it even more of a challenge to perform given the inability to place monitors physically at Site. Is SDV finally looking at extinction? Some organisations think so and are ceasing the use of SDV completely. Conversely, evidence from CROs still points to sponsors requesting 100% SDV on their trials. So what does the SDV landscape look like today and how have changes impacted Data Management? Join representatives from the Risk Based Monitoring Data Management Expert Group in a discussion on all things “SDV”.
